Coping With the Emotional Impact of Terminal Illness

Sometimes I get a call from someone and I feel like there is a gap in my information and resources - that what I have just doesn’t quite fit their particular experience or I don’t think that the way it is written or presented will be the right fit for someone, so off I go searching…

Every now and then I find a wee gem as I dive deep into the internet, looking around and considering all the material to see if it is a fit for a particular person or family I am supporting. This You Tube video made by Forest Holme Hospice in the UK is one of those wee gems. Check it out here.

New resources and information is constantly being made available which is awesome, but with any research or google search you need to make sure it’s from reliable sources and backed by research and science. If the theme of your searches is new to you (i.e. grief, death, end of life, bereavement, terminal illness) it can be hard to distinguish reputable sources worth pursuing from those that are just out there to scare or scam you. Don’t get me wrong, many are coming from an honest, compassionate place but, for example, if I am reading an article and they quote the 5 stages of grief, or it claims a cure that seems to good to be true, then I’m outta there!
